Malaysia E-Invoicing Update

Type: Legislation

The Malaysian Inland Revenue (LHDN) will launch a pilot in May 2024 with over 50 businesses for its new Continuous Transaction Control (CTC) e-invoicing model. Sales invoices (XML) must be sent to tax authorities via the government’s API for verification. Mandatory compliance starts on 1 Aug 2024 for taxpayers with an annual turnover of MYR 100 million. Subsequent phases occur on 1 Jan 2025 (MYR 25-100 million turnover) and 1 Jul 2025 (all other taxpayers). LHDN released a new guideline and catalogue (v2.1) in Oct 2023 covering various aspects. Businesses seeking compliance assistance can connect to our VAT e-invoicing product for multiple countries.

Effective date: August 1, 2024
