Launch of the Simplified VAT registration portal for non-residents in May 2023

Type: Legislation

The Tax Authorities of Egypt will soon introduce a new, more straightforward registration form and reporting platform for international suppliers of digital or electronic services. This will be accessible starting on May 1, 2023.

This includes an EGP 500,000 (about €27,400 or $31,800) requirement for VAT registration. It is possible to register for VAT more quickly without losing the ability to claim input VAT paid. Since 2020, the tax office shall stop requiring non-residents to select a fiscal representative.

 Effective date: 1 May 2023
